I photographed this tree at Kankakee River State Park on June 7. What is it?

My guess is Redbud due to the heart shaped leaves and alternate branching.

You get many birds in those trees, Beau? Just curious. My wife wants to put one in the yard. While I agree, they are attractive native trees and their blooms are beautiful in the spring, I'm trying to convince her to go with a fruiting tree like Serviceberry or Pagoda Dogwood.

We have one in our yard ( not mature) and the birds use it a lot.  A fruiting tree would be better all round though

Yes Redbud.  The only reason birds use ours is because it's next to the bird bath.
