Ultimate photography hack ever - MF lens converted to AF
« : November 02, 2015, 10:41:21 AM »
I recently purchased a Nikon TC-16a modified to work on modern screw drive cameras.  I'm working nights and not a lot of time to go looking for birds but live on a golf course with a lot of golfers to shoot.  At anything beyond 40 yards just set the MF lens to infinity and let the AF'ing teleconverter do its thing.
I have pictures with a Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 EDIF (my favorite) and a f/2.8 EDIF (not my favorite due to weight).  Sometimes the camera focuses on wrong thing but that is a me issue and not a TC issue.  I was at 1.5x1.3 cropping with D7100

First three are with 2.8 and second three with 4.5.  I wouldn't count on shooting flying birds with this setup.  If you look closely on one of the later photographs I caught a golf ball in the air at about 300 yards.
