Cooper Park is located on the east side of the river in a narrow strip of land that runs between Spindler Marina and East Port Marina. From the north entrance at Spindler Marina, a boardwalk runs through a wooded wetland, complete with beaver ponds. It is full of heart-leaf plantain and purple loosestrife, and willows.  Birds seen include gulls, killdeer, occassional peeps on the mudflats when water levels are right, Mallards, Blue-winged Teal, Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Pileated Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Prothonatory Warblers, Yellow Warblers, Rose-breasted Grossbeak, Cedar Waxwings, and many more during migration.  In the winter it is a great place to watch beavers at work mending dams and creating new ponds.
